TODAY'S WEBHUNTER:

Roger Ziegler

A Manhattanite since birth, webHunter Roger Ziegler ventures downtown to Chinatown from his well-appointed Upper East Side apartment. A longtime writer and journalist -- including a stint at Dan's Papers in the Hamptons -- Ziegler now devotes his time to more creative forms of writing. His latest play, drama-cum-comedy "Perverse by Nature," enjoyed a well-received public reading last month.

But today, he turns his attention to hunting Fugitives. "Many times in our lives we are confronted by tough challenges," he observes. "Some great, some small, some painful and some we are at a loss to explain, but always they are meaningful and necessary. And so this morning, Tuesday the 5th, I Roger Ziegler, have decided to embark upon a perilous and uncertain journey."

Invoking the words a hero of his, we remind Roger that the wheel is turning and it won't slow down. In his role of webHunter, he's bound to cover just a little more ground.

WHAT IS THE WEBHUNTER?
The webHunter is the eyes, ears, and dreams of the Internet viewing public. Each day, Command will select one person to spend a day on the streets, tracking the Fugitive for viewers at home or work, who cannot, for reasons of time, space, or mind, canvas the City themselves. The webHunter is equipped with a wireless communications device through which s/he will receive email from viewers who think they know the whereabouts of a Fugitive. If the webHunter catches a Fugitive, s/he will split the prize money with the viewer who sent the tip that led to capture. The webHunter is your friend.

Gotcha!
Roger returns with Chris' Fugitive ID, confirming the capture!

[ 5:14 PM ]
[ Command ]

• Return to HQ, a hero's welcome. I am elated, excited, and ready for more. One of the staff here at HQ presented me with a congratulatory cup of cola. This game has been the highlight of my day, week, month, and, possibly, year. I may take up freelance hunting full-time. The hunted are running scared, it is only a matter of time. The sitesherpa.com staff, and by proxy their parent company, Mouseion, LLC, have awarded me an oversized novelty check. I will go to the nearest clown bank and deposit it. I'm sure it will cash. Happy hunting everyone!

[ 4:20 PM ]
[ 7th Ave. and 33rd St. ]

• Eagerly awaiting the prize money. Love the RIM Blackberry. Fugitives, bounty hunters, who's paying for this?

[ 4:17 PM ]
[ 7th Ave. and 40th St. ]

• Got a ride swerving and weaving downtown with "mad man" Jay, fellow bounty hunter. He should consider a career as a taxi driver.

[ 4:15 PM ]
[ Bloomingdales, E. 59th St. ]

• Ah sweet victory!

[ 4:07 PM ]
[ Bloomingdales, E. 59th St. ]

• Have just realized everyone in New York is paranoid. If not, they're muttering to themselves and equally strange. Red haired girl was not friendly. I am going underground.

[ 4:02 PM ]
[ Bloomingdales, E. 59th St. ]

• Leaving bloomies, no sign of zoe, although the "cute girl" factor is much higher here than city hall. Ooh, there's one now, 6 feet with long red hair, I will follow her.

[ 3:40 PM ]
[ Bloomingdales, E. 59th St. ]

• Daylight is fading, my thoughts grow darker -- what if the other fugitives are plotting against me, I must remain on guard. I hate perfume.

[ 3:39 PM ]
[ Just past the Estee Lauder makeup women ]

• In Bloomingdales. Vulgar, overly perfumed, conspicuous consumption. It's crass and mindless and I wish I had more prize money to participate.

[ 3:20 PM ]
[ Location Undisclosed ]

• I love the thrill of the kill.

[ 3:15 PM ]
[ Location Undisclosed ]

• I need to do some christmas shopping -- for Fugitives.

[ 2:30 PM ]
[ Church St. and Reade St. ]

• Having victor's lunch at a pakistani restaurant, chicken tikka masala. I love sitesherpa.com.

• He was so dejected when I caught him. His face sank and he was obviously crestfallen. Life is rough on the mean streets of Manhattan. This is just the beginning.

[ 1:00 PM ]
[ Location Undisclosed ]

• Like a lion waiting by the watering hole, I sat patiently by the entrance to the Tweed Courthouse by City Hall and waited for my prey. When Chris arrived asking for proof he was here, I pounced and took his ID and his hopes.

• The tiger has pounced. The Japanese say "everything takes time and patience."

[ 11:50 AM ]
[ Location Undisclosed ]

• I was here! But I took a wrong turn. Now the streets are unfamiliar, the people strange. I think I'm in New Jersey. I shudder.

[ 11:15 AM ]
[ Location Undisclosed ]

• I am renewed! I lie in wait like a panther ready to strike. I can taste them and their stinky fish!

[ 10:45 AM ]
[ Location Undisclosed ]

• The phrase "wild goose chase" has been rolling through my head lately. I stand alone on a quiet city street.

[ 10:40 AM ]
[ Location Undisclosed ]

• No sign of anyone yet. I have set a trap for them at the art gallery with the naked pictures. I will wait for them here. All day if necessary.

[ 10:35 AM ]
[ Location Undisclosed ]

• I have tired of toying with fools. The film crew keeps walking past. I hide my RIM every time they do. They are pawns in a game of which they have no idea of the rules.

[ 10:30 AM ]
[ Location Undisclosed ]

• Some dude with a mini mike attached to him is standing near me saying "copy that." He is more paranoid than me. I stare at him and try to look suspicious.

[ 10:19 AM ]
[ Location Undisclosed ]

• They're filming a movie on grand and mercer. I will attempt a walk on.

[ 10:04 AM ]
[ Location Undisclosed ]

• Paranoia level holding. I feel mildly like the terminator. I vill find choo.

[ 9:57 AM ]
[ Location Undisclosed ]

• The morning air has snapped me awake, I feel strangely powerful, yet I can't help feeling I'm also being watched.

[ 9:10 AM ]
[ Command ]

• A sharp, cold December morning. My thoughts are of my loved ones, my family members, my children, whoever they are. If I do not return, give all my possessions to the Roger Ziegler Memorial Fund for Nudists. The air is crackling, I feel confident, full of youthful vigor. Someone is going down today!

[ 9:00 AM ]
[ Command ]

• [Day 7 webHunter Roger Ziegler arrives at Command.]
