TODAY'S WEBHUNTER:

Mark Tafoya

Mark made his way down from the very top of Manhattan, where he lives, to hunt Fugitives downtown in the Village. But Mark, an actor by trade, says he knows the streets of today's neighborhood and is ready to track 'em down. "I think it's about getting the clue early and beating them to the punch," Mark says. He just finished filming the indie film, "Raw," a dark exploration of unsafe sex in the year 2000.

WHAT IS THE WEBHUNTER?
The webHunter is the eyes, ears, and dreams of the Internet viewing public. Each day, Command will select one person to spend a day on the streets, tracking the Fugitive for viewers at home or work, who cannot, for reasons of time, space, or mind, canvas the City themselves. The webHunter is equipped with a wireless communications device through which s/he will receive email from viewers who think they know the whereabouts of a Fugitive. If the webHunter catches a Fugitive, s/he will split the prize money with the viewer who sent the tip that led to capture. The webHunter is your friend.

One.... Thousand Dollars!
Mark catches Fugitive #2.... But fails to make the big score

[ 9:00 PM ]
[ Command ]

• Zoe, I’ve got to hand it to you, you’re a clever girl! Your superior knowledge of Dylan songs has kept you just one step ahead of me all day, and I’m sure it’s helped you to amuse yourself as well. Just know that I was one short block away from you very early today, and just after catching Jason. Your good karma kept you ahead of me…but how long will it last??? Keep it up, you’ve got a few days to go! My hat’s off to you!

[ 7:26 PM ]
[ West 4th ]

• West 4th station...if she won't come to play, the play will come to her...if she has the guts to stick around.

[ 6:27 PM ]
[ 6th Ave. and 3rd St. ]

• Been scouring every pharm in the village. Back at 6th Ave. and 3rd, where I caught Jason. Zoe, why are you so cowardly, hiding uptown??? Come out and play!

[ 5:41 PM ]
[ Location undisclosed ]

• Take your vitamins.

[ 5:32 PM ]
[ Bleeker St. and Broadway ]

• [Hunter too busy hunting to give a comment.]

[ 4:34 PM ]
[ Sheridan Square ]

• Biding my time for awhile. Taking sustenance to prepare for when the chicken must stop running around with her head cut off and complete a task in the village...I made it easy for you this morning, dear...you didn't have to complete the task...you will tonight!

[ 3:41 PM ]
[ Union Square ]

• Hints for hunters and regular folk...Don't sit on a stone bench outside in december! My tushy's frozen. BRRRRRR. JK Rowling must be a zillionaire by now...there are about a thousand and one Harry Potter books in this Barnes and Noble. I need a spell to conjure up some warmth for my tush, and also to find Zoe-Loey!

[ 2:26 PM ]
[ Union Square South ]

• I'm standing in front of the Virgin Megastore, and Bob Dylan's album is the display out front. I'm sure she was here just a few minutes ago. I'm a little tired, but exciting. I'm cold on Zoe's trail. I feel like that guy in the Incredible Hulk who would always show up a minute after Bruce Banner transformed into the Hulk, and he'd be left standing there with a grimace on his face, having only found a ripped piece of cloth. I'm just gonna chill in the Virgin Megastore.

[ 1:56 PM ]
[ Location Undisclosed ]

• (with apologies to Stephen Sondheim)

"Pretty Zoe
Fascinating
Hopping subways
Shopping
Pretty zoe
Is a wonder...

Shopping for a hideout
Or combing out her hair

Even when she leaves you and vanishes
Somehow she's still there..."

I will find you, my dear....

[ 1:35 PM ]
[ Broadway and Prince St. ]

• Just got out at bway and prince...in front of a resto called zoe, of all things...to find out she's headed back uptown...will wait a few to see when she pops back up.

[ 1:32 PM ]
[ Getting on the N around Times Square ]

• Anxious here...jumped in first possible downtown train at only 1 report she had been at 1st and bowery...may have been rash not to wait for some tips...I hope she stays "down on skid row" (this time with apologies to Alan Mencken and Howard Ashman)...these guys have gotten me nervous with this whole "karma" trip!

[ 1:13 PM ]
[ Location Undisclosed ]

• Waiting for update...checked stocks at nasdaq...saw a tourist grimace over 2 guys kissing...he ain't in Kansas anymore...

[ 12:56 PM ]
[ Location Undisclosed ]

• "Zoe, zoe, zoe
You've been too long
In one town
And it's time to go
Time to go-o"
(DOWN, that is...)

[ 12:30 PM ]
[ Easy Everywhere Internet Cafe, 42nd St. bet. 8th and 9th Aves. ]

• Was thinking about karma on the way down here...my good karma from Jason brought me within a block of Zoe...at Easy Everywhere, the internet superstore now...gonna try the Port Authority bowling alley.

[ 12:00 PM ]
[ Heading west on 57th St. ]

• High noon in the city...a surreal display window makeover demo has made me leave Bloomies, the trail cold...heading west on 57th to scour the holiday shoppers in midtown...ran into 2 friends, who think I'm crazy. One of them named Chad...I left him hanging.

[ 11:30 AM ]
[ Somewhere on the 6 Line ]

• Making my way uptown...hold up in tunnel... I'm sure she caught the one just before this one...peeking out at each stop for a moptophead or a dark ski-capped pixie. I hope she gets off at 59th or Grand Central.

[ 10:55 AM ]
[ Place Untitled on Greene St. ]

• I agree with some of the tipsters that Zoe's probably in "chick" mode.

[ 9:51 AM ]
[ Location undisclosed ]

• Stroke of luck! Hanging outside the blue note like a jazzy bebopper, he bopped!

[ 8:55 AM ]
[ Leaving Command ]

• Nothing will stand in my way today…not even a slow-moving A Train. (The MTA be damned!) I’m not gonna boast about my prowess at hunting, or taunt the fugitives...best to let ‘em think they have the upper hand…I WILL ask for your help early and often today…so stick by your computers if you’re not hunting, and give me all the help you can folks! Catch you soon (Zoe and Jason).

[ 8:30 AM ]
